This video presentation discusses my research regarding the spatial and temporal impacts of foreign-trade zones on economic development in the United States

I have 11 years of teaching experience at various levels of education. As a secondary level educator, I was able to design and implement engaging courses in history and geography for 8th through 11th grade students. At the university level, I have taught a number of courses in human and physical geography. Both experiences have given me a profound understanding of pedagogy for a number of courses and ages. Along the way, I have taught the following courses at the university level:

  • Introduction to Geography
  • Human Geography
  • World Regional Geography
  • Earth Science
  • People, Places, and Cultures
  • Physical Geography: Landscapes
  • Economic Geography
  • Fundamentals of GPS
  • Image Interpretation and Analysis
  • Survey of Geospatial Technology
  • Economic Globalization
  • Sustainable Economic Development
  • Geography of the Global South
  • Geographic Approaches to Research

I have spent the last 10 years analyzing topics ranging from geopolitical relations, international trade policy, uneven development, political economy, and health geographies. I have publications in several journals discussing the impact of maritime trade access on economic development, the effects of foreign-trade zones on spatial development patterns, and the relationship between socioeconomics and access to healthy foods and physical activity.
